About 7 years ago I lived in a suburb of Melbourne called Moonee Ponds which is where the Mooney Valley races are held. I have this vivid memory of sitting in the tram (during the Moonee Valley races) post work in my work uniform heading to Moonee Ponds. Suddenly few groups of impeccably dressed women and men, boys and girls hopped on the tram. They were all headed to the races. I remember being extremely embarrassed at my own outfit (uniform) at the time. Not only did I shamelessly gape at the men (for the obvious reasons) but I drank in the sight of the girls. From their dresses, gorgeous fascinators and hats to their well manicured finger-nails and expensive sky high heels I made a mental note of everything and thinking to myself that one day I am going to dress like that!
Derby Day spells classic like no other. Here is my take on a Spring Racing Carnival look that will give you thumbs up from the Fashion Police but won't burn holes in your pockets.
I have paired it with a black and white floral headband (fascinator). I admit to buying this instead of fancy shmancy headgear as I see repeat value of this headband. I could easily wear it to a beach.I got a great bargain at ICE Design. For affordable accessories click Here
I am wearing mesh silver studs and a metallic black and silver ring. I have worn this ring previously in the post - Dark Florals. To keep the look monotone I have paired it with comfortable heels by Payless shoes.
